Clogging The Airways
One of Metro North's design features that we've seen on some previous New Haven line trains is the lighting grid. A fantastic feature to attract, trap and then release into the lungs of a commuter, lots of tiny dust particles.
Yesterday's 5.01 pm evening ride on car #8718 had one of the thickest concentrations of particles I have seen. So thick that the grid was covered in places.
The pics tell the story (double click to enlarge).

I just finished reading your entire blog, and I must say it is refreshing to finally see somebody who cares. I currently work at MNRR and complain about the conditions daily, but nothing ever gets done. Maybe if the paying riders (customers) start making enough of a fuss, real change will take place. Maybe a boycott at the beginning of the month prior to purchasing monthly's will wake them up.
Liked your blog. I'm also a commuter on the New Haven Line.
Blog is www.metro-north.blogspot.com
Drop in, leave a comment or 2. Looking for make a "social blog" rather than a what's wrong blog.
I'm a big fan of the rails, and find it a much better alternative than driving (which wouldn't even be fathomable)

please read my article, and consider publishing it on your blog as it is a bit out of place on mine, I can tone it down if you want.
a fan and fellow commuter,

i guess metro north does not turn a profit after all. i still wonder though why new haven line to stamford gets the shaft with the crappy trains.
The Metro North train service is getting so bad I think we need to start a commuter protest by having one day where we all refuse to show our tickets. We have to get their attention. They come up with all kinds of excuses about the weather causing us all to be late but they still want all their money.
